Some scenery is just not expected in a historic villiage

Evan and I saw this sight as we left Bega heading to Cooma. We hope he did not have to turn around like we did because on the road from Bega to Cooma. Rains in early March washed out part of the road over the Brown Mountain. Our detour was hard enough with hard pack, washed out roads, back tracking and steep grade. I am not sure even a storm trooper could have made that march.

On the way to Cooma, we passed through Nimmtabel. The town is small but picturesque.

The lake at Jindabyne is the highest it has been in at least 12 years or so the residents told us.

The rose parrots are known as Gallah. Accent is on the "ah"

No data available on this building. It was on the road to Kosciuszko National Park near a Schnapps Distiller.

Evan on the Cooma-Monaro Rail Road.

In Australia, this style car is known as a "Tin Hare", a self propelled single car train. Here in the States, we cal them a "doodlebug"

View from the Cooma-Monaro Rail Road. Scenery in the Australian Alps is unspoiled and beautiful.

Yes, this is a magpie after a snake. Picture was taken at Adalong Falls

2nd magpie ended up with the snake for breakfast. It was interesting to watch the magpies with the snake. The bird would grab the snake just behing the head, then toss it in the air. When the snake landed, the magpie would repeat the toss. All the time the bird would dance away if the snake tried to strike. Final result, bird 1 - snake 0. That is the snake in the bird beak.

Large Flock of Sulpher Crested Cockatoo in Wagga Wagga

Close up! These birds get within 3 feet if you are quiet and very still. Stewie would not be impressed with grass for lunch!

These are the cockatoo watch birds. They did not scream while we were there but the were not quiet either.
